I've designed three catalogs: two for Positive Action, Inc in the early 2000's (educational materials company), and one for Rosanna in 2009 (a lifestyle and tableware brand). Both brands were well established. Rosanna had a new lifestyle book and the spring 2010 product catalog leaned heavily into the same styling. Working with a talented stylist and a talented photographer, I art directed the Spring 2010 line product photo shoot and did the subsequent photo editing and the majority of the catalog layout (some pages of old product were pulled from earlier catalogs). I'm proud of how this catalog drew on classical art skills to represent unavailable or incomplete products photo-realistically. In the following images, layout and product photography featuring tableware done by me unless otherwise noted. Lifestyle and flower shots were taken prior to my involvement with the project, many from Rosanna's lifestyle book.
In the above spread, bottom left photo was from an old shoot.
In the image on the right, the teapot and one teacup were blanks that I had to digitally alter.
Note, In the above spread, top right photo was from a previous shoot.
Below: Because samples from the factory were late (a common occurrence) this original photo had no plates on the wall and the bottom tray in the two tier serving plate was a blank. After the main shoot, I took additional photos of the plates, mimicking light, and used Photoshop to add them to the image and the bottom of the tray, adding wall shadows and reflections.
While working for Positive Action, Inc. in the early 2000's, I completed the first product catalog they'd had in years. I did the majority of new product photography myself. I worked with the owner and a talented staff writer to develop copy and headlines, and together we implemented a brand refresh I had driven to standardize their hundreds of products and all their marketing materials. I brought their second catalog to near completion then handed it off to another talented designer when I moved cities.
